Sea Kayaking Courses

A 3 hour tour of one of North Wales' estuaries to view resident and migratory birds of the area. You will be paddling a 2 man canoe and accompanied by a guide and Ornathologist. This trip is suitable for all people with an interest in birding. No previous canoe experience is necessary.

Two days for absoloutley anyone to get out on the water to shake the cobwebs of their kit before the start of the season. Our coaches will be offering tips on boat handling skills, navigation and any other areas of paddling people express an interest in. This will be a fairly relaxed two days with the aim being to get out on the water and rack our coaches brains. The two days will be based out of Anglesey outdoors near Holyhead. They can provide camping, bunkhouse accomodation or on suite two to four bed rooms. Meals can also be provided.

This two day course will introduce you to all the basics of sea kayaking. Boat handling skills, safety, weather, tides, and plenty of time out on the water will make sure your first steps in to the sport are exciting and informative. Our coaches will guide you through a series of skills allowing you to develop good techniques from square one; all this will be combined with journeys along the stunning Anglesey Coastline.

Utilising the Anglesey and Llyn Peninsular this five day course will give participants an excellent grounding in sea kayak skills. Over five days we will look at developing your core skills and coach you in many areas of boat handling in a wide range of environments. Plenty of journeys on the sea mean you will get opportunities to practice and hone the skills you have been taught. There will also be an element of classroom based teaching looking and basic trip planning, tides, weather and safety at sea.

Try a day of sea kayaking under the watchful eye of one of our coaches. If you are new to kayaking or you have never kayaked before this day will give you a feel for what sea kayaking is all about. A typical taster session will include an introduction to the equipment a chat about safety, basic boat handling skills and a short journey along the coast.

For those looking to develop their paddling skills and to become a more competent and independent paddler. This course will start to look at handling sea kayaks in slightly more challenging conditions. Over the two days we will introduce you to handling sea kayaks in wind and small swells, along with rock hopping and rescues basic navigation and seamanship will also be covered.

The same theme and aims as the 2 day course but with the opportunity to spend more time on the water and get more trips/sea miles under your belt. Within this week we may aim to head to the Llyn Peninsular to let you experience another stunning part of the Welsh coastline. Boat handling Skills, understanding tides and charts, trip planning and boat selection will all be covered in this course.

Over two days we will seek out the best Anglesey has to offer to develop your personal skills in a range of different environments. Our coaches will look at improving you boat handling skills in rougher water and areas of tidal flow. You will be encouraged to be involved from the beginning in trip planning and decision making on and off the water.

During this week we will utilise some of the best areas Anglesey has to offer to help you develop your skills in rough water. You will be coached on and off the water and you will be actively involved in trip planning and decision making to give you a solid grounding as an intermediate sea kayaker. During this week will seek out the best venues to make sure you get the most from the week and develop your paddling skills to the full. High level coaching mixed with plenty of time to develop your skills ensure you will come away from this week more confident, higher skilled and, possibly quite exhausted.

A completely practical based course with all available time spent on the water. We will be coaching you through a range of techniques and skills to enable you to become a more competent paddler in rougher, more advanced conditions. We will be looking at dealing with wind, tide, swell and surf as well as tidal races and overfalls. Coaching will be individualised to ensure that clients get the most from the course. Participants are expected to have experience of paddling in force 4 conditions and above and should have a roll.

North Wales is famous for its fantastic advanced paddling locations. This week of coaching and paddling in some of the best sea kayaking areas North Wales has to offer will give higher level paddlers a great opportunity to develop their sea kayak skills. Dealing with surf, tidal races and advanced trip planning will all be covered. This week gives paddlers the opportunity to be pushed with the safety of our coaches on hand. One evening of this week will look at night navigation.

Let us introduce you to moving water in a safe, controlled and relaxed environment. Over two days you will be guided through boat handling skills to enable you to confidently control your sea kayak in moving water. Using the fantastic tidal flows around Anglesey our coaches will gently introduce you to the world of tidal races and overfalls.
